Guide to a Safe and Meaningful March

ATLANTA MARCH FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND WOMEN

GUIDE TO A SAFE AND MEANINGFUL MARCH

  • Be kind.  Help create a positive, supportive environment by welcoming those in attendance. Reach out to others. Marchers are all here for the same reason: social justice and unity.
  • Be respectful. We all come from different backgrounds and experiences and have one thing in common: the desire to work together to create safe, inclusive communities and government.
  • Be positive. We are mad, sad, disappointed and everything in between, but we want to put positive, hope filled messages out into the community during this march.
  • Be safe. See something, say something.  There will be no tolerance for violence, abusive language or other unsafe behavior. There will be police on hand to ensure that we are safe during our demonstration. Please follow the directions of police and all safety personnel.
  • Be prepared. Dress for the weather.  Wear comfortable walking shoes.  Bring water and snacks.
  • Be good to the environment. Be sure to take everything out, that you bring in. Let’s leave the city just as clean, if not cleaner than we found it.  Consider public transportation and ridesharing to eliminate traffic woes and reduce carbon emissions.
  • Be creative. Feel free to express yourself through art, music, attire.  Write a positive slogan or chant to share at the march.
  • Be yourself. With the exception of religious attire, or medical devices, no masks, or other facial coverings will be allowed.
  • Please leave your pets at home. Service animals are always welcome.
  • Be the change you want to see in the world.  Our children and youth are watching us and will be joining us. Let us fill them with hope and positive messages. They are our future.
